📚 Teaching Approach
I create a friendly, motivating atmosphere where each student is encouraged to participate at their comfort level. With many years of teaching experience in Germany, France, and Canada, and as a native German speaker, I ensure both accuracy and a positive learning environment.
No prior German knowledge required.
No downloads or Nearpod accounts needed.
Students will need:
- A device that can open a Nearpod link (computer, tablet, or phone).
- Paper and a pencil/pen for optional notes or quick writing tasks.
- Optional: Headphones (recommended for clearer audio, especially in shared spaces).
- A quiet space where the learner can speak comfortably during short German practice moments.
All digital activities (Nearpod) are provided by the teacher.
No accounts, logins, or downloads are required.
This class uses Nearpod for interactive activities such as polls, matching, drawing, and games. Students do not need to create an account to participate. A link will be provided in the Zoom chat, and learners can join the Nearpod lesson by entering their first name or a nickname.
Nearpod is used in teacher-paced mode, meaning all student activity stays within the live classroom and is only visible to the teacher. No personal information is collected beyond the name the learner chooses to type in for the session.
If you have any questions about Nearpod or need tech support before class, please feel free to contact me.
By the end of this one-time intro session, students will:
- be able to use 6–10 foundational German words and expressions, including greetings and numbers 1–10.
- be able to participate confidently in Nearpod activities such as polls, Draw-It, Drag & Drop, and Time to Climb.
- be able to understand the structure and expectations of the 20-week German for Friends program, including its themes and interactive learning style.
